Haven't seen a heated debate on here for a while, so thought I would contribute!
I'm torn between two stories, in some cases, I do believe they can JUST be friends, but I do believe that somewhere down the line in your friendship, you have a two week period for example, in which your feelings for that person change.
Perhaps I'm insecure, but do you believe that there's always one that's more interested in the other, wanting something more than friendship?
I can't word this very well. Lol. But you get the jist!
What do you think? Any personal experiences?

I don't think a friendship can last too long with a guy and girl without one developing feelings beyond a friendship. You get to know them so well and get so use to them that you start seeing them as what you want more and more.
I can't word my thoughts very well either Ali lol |

(With out reading the post)
I can't stand this subject with my mates.
I'm always saying how I've got lots of girls mates who I feel nothing for, and my mates say something like 'your gay' blah!
Of course lads and girls can be friends!
Unless, you only think of one thing when thinking of the other sex, which to me, having just one group of mates who are all the same gender is GAY. =] |

It's a debate that's been going on for decades. Everyone has their own individual opinion on the matter, but as Brad said, as the friendship progresses, there's more chance of possibly being romantically linked.
I've always found with the friendships I hold with particular males, there's always been that "two week period" - because I know the person as an individual, know his personality, and suddenly you see that person in a totally different light. Sometimes it turns out innocent, and within two weeks you're back to normal.
But I've had cases, especially recently with a close male mate of mine I've known for the past two years, where we've both given in and "progressed" the friendship. With this mate in particular, because he's one of my closest mates, it was awfully awkward, and **** right weird. In the end, I stopped things "progressing" because I knew in my heart it wasn't right - I don't find him attractive, but I love him dearly as a mate. Luckily, it happened at the right time, because we're back on track now, the friendship is still there, and we can look back on it now and laugh.
Do you think it possibly changes with age? Everyone knows what the heads of the teenage generation these days, is full of. Perhaps as you grow older, you appreciate friendships more, and gain more maturity?
I REALLY can't get my words across tonight. |

Ok fair enough, friendships will grow.
I find it best to be friends with someone before having a relationship with 'em, whether its 2 weeks, or 5 years of friendship.
It's better in the long run as you know them more.
E.G. Like for e.g. I met a girl one night, quite liked her ...
The following week out I saw her, I found some stuff that really put me off.
.. I think I'm going off topic ...
But yea .. you can and can't .... |

Guys you find to be unattractive now, like the guy you mentioned Ali, could end up being more of what you want later on. Yes I still think that your age has an effect on the matter. Younger people are more insecure and picky. They judge others by looks more to keep in smaller crowds. As you grow up, you will learn to widen your views and you may see that guy by his personailty alone and end up more then friends again. You go through phases, your body makes many changes, and it confuses the heck out of us in the process. |
